Sean Brennan was named University of Mount Olive head men’s soccer coach in late January of 2016. Brennan came to Mount Olive from UNC Pembroke. A former collegiate goalkeeper, Brennan worked with both the UNC Pembroke’s men’s and women’s soccer programs as a goalkeeping coach. Brennan previously spent three seasons at Mount Olive from 2008-10, serving as first assistant and as goalkeeper coach. The Trojans posted a 9-7-3 record in Brennan's first year at Mount Olive, including a 4-3 overtime victory over nationally 13th-ranked Limestone. In 2010, the Trojans held 12 of 17 opponents to two goals or less.

In his first season at the helm of the Trojans, Brennan's squad posted a 7-8-1 record and went 5-5 against Conference Carolinas opponents. UMO finished the season on a seven game win-streak including five shutouts and a 2-1 win over conference rival Barton. Coach Brennan had five student-athletes make the Conference Carolinas All-Academic team.

Brennan spent five seasons at UNC Pembroke. After four years as assistant coach, Brennan was promoted to associate head coach in 2015. The Braves posted a combined 23-10-4 record during his first two years and advanced to the round of 16 in the 2012 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Tournament. UNCP was ranked as high as No. 15 in the nation and No. 2 in the Southeast Region in 2012 (2011) and 2013 (2012).

In 2012, the Braves matched their third-best finish in 20 years (NCAA Division II era) with 12 wins and made history as the squad advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division II Regional Tournament, with a 3-2 win over Mars Hill, for the first time in 10 years. The Braves were eliminated on penalties against Flagler, 4-2. The squad capped off the season with a 12-5-2 record.

Under former Head Coach Phil Hindson and Brennan’s guidance the program had two CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, a PBC Freshman of the Year, a Golden Ball Winner, PBC Player of the Year, two Daktronics All-Region and NSCAA All-Region players, 10 NCCSIA All-State players, six All-PBC players, six PBC All-Tournament players, two PBC All-Preseason players, 10 PBC Players of the Week, 15 PBC All-Academic Team players and the team garnered a sportsmanship award in 2011.

As the goalkeepers coach, Brennan led the men’s keepers to PBC All-Conference teams in 2013, 2014, and 2015. The women’s keepers were led to a PBC All-Conference and All-Region team selection in 2011 and a National Keeper of the Week in 2014 and.

A player for Methodist University in Fayetteville, N.C., from 2004-07, Brennan earned USA South All-Conference and All-Tournament selections during his senior season, is currently 7th all-time for saves in a season (88).

He holds a National Goalkeeping Diploma, a National Coaching Diploma and an Advanced National Coaching Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). He also worked as the Director of Coaching for the Fayetteville Force Soccer Club in Fayetteville, N.C. (2008-January 2016) While at the Fayetteville Force Soccer Club Brennan was a part of sending more than 40 players to College and Universities all over the country as student-athletes. He has overseen teams complete in nine Kepner State Cup final fours and five champions (one team to a final four and one championship personally in 2009 and 2010.

Brennan currently assumes the position as head coach of the 99 Boys Classic Soccer team. He was also a staff coach for the Olympic Development Program from 2010-2015.

He earned a bachelor’s of science degree in marketing with a concentration in sports management from Methodist University in December of 2008. He completed his master’s degree in marketing from Southern New Hampshire in 2014 and currently resides in Fayetteville with his wife, Lauren, and two dogs, Bella and Pepper.
